About

Hayley Gearon

Hayley Gearon Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

I have worked in one-to-one therapeutic roles for more than 15 years and am a qualified Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist having trained for 5 years on the UKCP accredited postgrad programme run by the Society for Critical and Social Psychoanalysis (SSCP). My background is in the arts and arts education and prior to joining the training I was working as a lecturer.

In choosing to become a psychoanalyst and being drawn to this programme, I was interested in the kind of attentiveness this work can give to an individual in thinking about the specific ways in which circumstances, be they societal and/or personal, can shape us and become fixed, creating forms of suffering that limit our ability to enjoy ourselves and our lives.  Psychoanalysis offers a slower, individuated approach to working through our problems in contrast with the shorter, quick fixes we may seek in the fast-lane of contemporary life.

What I can help with

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy can help with a range of difficulties and I have experience of working with the following:

anxiety - depression - alcoholism and addiction - trauma - PTSD - sexual abuse - OCD - chronic health conditions - self harm - loss and grief - suicidal thoughts - problems in relationships - intimacy issues - creative blocks - eating problems - gender dysphoria - discrimination - post-natal depression - panic attacks - paranoid thinking - deprivation - loss of direction and meaning - Bi-polar disorder - familial conflict - BPD - repeating patterns of destructive behaviour - life changes - psychosis - retirement - low self-esteem - eco anxiety - autism - ADHD

What to do next

If you are interested in exploring therapy with me you can contact me for an initial, free phone consultation of around 30 minutes, where we can get a sense of each other and discuss some of what has brought you to therapy and address any questions you may have about the process.

If you decide at this stage that you wish to go ahead we can arrange the session times and frequency, for most this is once a week (minimum) but at crisis points or at critical stages this can increase to twice a week or more.

I prefer the embodied nature of in-person work but appreciate that for many meeting online may be more convenient for all kinds of reasons so I do offer online appointments via Teams.

I charge £50 per session (50 minutes) but I may have some low cost places available for those for who need them.

I currently run practices in Falmouth and Penryn. My practice rooms are located near bus routes for those who do not have their own transport. The Penryn space has a lift and is suitable for wheelchair users.
